Morning Coffee, Workouts and Friday Shopping: A Guide to the North Tel Aviv Lifestyle

It is often said that the value of a property is determined by three things: location, location and location. But what makes a location truly good? The north Tel Aviv lifestyle gives a clear answer: the small everyday experiences. Walking down to a good café, reaching the delicatessen without starting the car, and meeting friends at the country club pool at noon on a Friday.

Ramat Aviv Gimel, Neve Avivim and Ramat Aviv HaYeruka (Green Ramat Aviv) offer a leisure and culinary scene that in recent years has become a real reason to choose them, alongside the education system. We took a walk through the three neighborhoods to gather the places that define daily life there. The guide was updated in October 2026. Businesses open and close, so it is worth checking hours and details before you head out.

Neve Avivim: two neighborhood centers

Neve Avivim has undergone a quiet revolution. The tranquil neighborhood now offers culinary quality that holds its own against the city center, in a far more relaxed atmosphere.

  • The Oppenheimer Center: This is home to Nono, the Italian restaurant with wood fired ovens, which has become the neighborhood’s dining room. Families come for early dinners, and couples stay on for a glass of wine in the evening. Around it are more cafés and neighborhood businesses.
  • The Tagore Center, the neighborhood heart: The shopping center on Tagore Street is where most errands get done: a supermarket, the Metuka patisserie for coffee and pastries, and cafés and restaurants that cover almost every hour of the day. Next to the center is the Tagore Garden, with the neighborhood community center.

Ramat Aviv HaYeruka: greenery, academia and an effortless atmosphere

The charm of Ramat Aviv HaYeruka lies in its effortless atmosphere and its mix of students, university faculty and longtime families.

  • Ototo in Gronemann Garden: A small café operating inside the public garden, with a playground visible from every table. Coffee and focaccia sandwiches in the morning, and wine and pizza in the garden in the evening. This is exactly the kind of place that turns a public garden into a neighborhood meeting point.
  • The campus and the museums: For residents of HaYeruka, the campus is part of the neighborhood. The Eretz Israel Museum and ANU Museum are close by, and the university lawns serve many for morning and evening walks.

Ramat Aviv Gimel: everything within walking distance

In Ramat Aviv Gimel, two commercial hubs on Abba Ahimeir Street make a car almost entirely unnecessary for everyday errands.

  • The Schuster Center: The neighborhood’s main square. On one side, leisure, with an Arcaffe branch that is full at almost any hour, and the lines for Roladin challahs on Friday mornings. On the other side, the neighborhood’s practical center, with a supermarket, banks and services.
  • The complex at 1 Abba Ahimeir, on the corner of Shlomo Ben Yosef: A boutique complex with two places that have become part of the routine. The café of the Magazzino patisserie, with the cakes and pastries the patisserie is known for, and Tene, a two level delicatessen that serves brunch in the morning and becomes a neighborhood wine bar on some evenings.

For anyone considering living in the neighborhood, the meaning is simple: most of what you need on an ordinary day is a short walk from home.

The north Tel Aviv lifestyle: where to stay fit

Sport and leisure culture is an integral part of life in the north of the city, and the three neighborhoods are surrounded by first rate facilities:

  • The Tel Aviv University Sports Center: On campus, close to the neighborhoods. The center has a 50 meter open air Olympic pool, heated in winter, one of only two Olympic pools in Tel Aviv, along with two indoor pools and a gym on two levels. The center is also open to members of the public who take out a membership.
  • The country club in Ramat Aviv Gimel: Part of the Rozin community center on Drezner Street, and a central social meeting place in the neighborhood, with a pool, a gym and classes.
  • The Neve Avivim country club: On Yehuda HaNasi Street. A more intimate community country club, with an indoor pool, tennis courts and classes for children and adults.

Shopping and leisure

  • Ramat Aviv Mall: The residents’ home mall, on Einstein Street, with fashion brands, restaurants and cafés, within walking distance of Neve Avivim and Ramat Aviv HaYeruka.
  • Glilot: A short drive north, with shopping complexes, home stores and cinemas.
  • The beach: Tel Baruch beach and the northern coastline are minutes away by car, and round out the weekend routine.

How to check the lifestyle before you buy

Anyone considering an apartment in one of the neighborhoods can check the daily routine for themselves, even before deciding. A few simple recommendations:

  • Visit the street on a Friday morning, when the neighborhood centers are full, and also on a weekday evening.
  • Walk from the apartment to the café, the supermarket and the nearest garden, and time it.
  • Check the walking distance to the country club or the sports center, if that is part of your routine.
  • Notice the other side of the coin: an apartment right next to a shopping center enjoys convenience, but also traffic and noise at peak hours.

The north Tel Aviv lifestyle as part of a property’s value

When you look for an apartment in north Tel Aviv, you are not only choosing a number of rooms and a floor. You are also choosing your regular café, your morning pool and the delicatessen that will become part of your routine. Proximity to these hubs is felt every day, and sometimes also in demand for the apartment when the time comes to sell. Anyone weighing the three neighborhoods will find a detailed comparison of buildings, schools and character in our guide Ramat Aviv Gimel, Neve Avivim or Ramat Aviv HaYeruka.
